New Google Chrome ads

I was watching 30 Rock on Hulu tonight, and this ad for Google's new web browser came on. I'm a total sucker for clever animation, so I figured I would share it here.

I guess it's trying to say that Google Chrome is simpler, cleaner, and without all the visual clutter. I've been planning on doing a post on how I think Google will get broken up in the near future, so do they really think it's a good idea to create a web browser to add to the myriad other products and services they offer? In my opinion, they are definitely dipping their quills into way too many ink wells.

I know my comment is a couple of days late, but...

Google's foray into the browser market is a logical step, in my opinion. They seem only to move into markets where there is reasonable competition...and then, typically, they trounce that competition. In the browser wars, they'll have a much harder time, but between Mozilla/firefox, opera, safari and chrome there exists a serious potential non-IE market share that actually makes a difference. From a web standards viewpoint, this is positive movement as all of the browsers other than IE are (for the most part) strictly compliant with W3C standards. I, for one, hope that Chrome is a success along the lines of firefox in that it takes a significant enough portion of market share from Microsoft so as to force IE into being a better browser and simultaneously help to enable web developers and content providers to adhere to web standards and make the www a better place.
